Hyatt Regency Bali Review

Is This the Best Luxury Beachfront Stay in Sanur?

There’s something about staying at Hyatt Regency Bali that you notice almost immediately. It doesn’t shout for attention, and that is exactly why it works. After eight trips to Bali, I’ve realised not every luxury stay needs to feel dramatic to feel special. Some places win you over with calm, space, greenery, and that soft shift in energy the second you arrive. That is exactly how Hyatt Regency Bali feels. Set right on the beachfront in Sanur, the resort stretches across nine hectares of tropical gardens with 373 rooms and three pools, so it feels expansive without ever feeling chaotic.

After time in busier parts of Bali, Sanur always feels like an exhale to us. It is slower, softer, and more settled than Seminyak or Canggu, and that changes the entire rhythm of your stay. Hyatt Regency Bali fits that mood perfectly. It is the kind of place you choose when you want mornings by the beach, long walks, easy dinners, and a holiday that actually feels restful. Sanur is widely known for its calm, family-friendly beach and its long promenade lined with hotels, cafés, and small shops, which is a huge part of the appeal.

Before you book your trip, make sure to check our Complete Bali guide for your trip and follow this 5-day Bali itinerary for first-time visitors or the Ultimate Bali Itinerary.

First Impressions and Location

The arrival sets the tone beautifully. Hyatt Regency Bali feels polished, tropical, and spacious in a way that instantly makes you want to stay longer. The resort sits on Jalan Danau Tamblingan in the heart of Sanur and is around 14 kilometres from Ngurah Rai International Airport, which makes it feel easy from the moment you land and takes around 30 to 40 minutes. It gives you that proper beachfront resort feeling, but without making you feel cut off from the rest of Sanur. We always book a pickup through Get Your Guide which is cost effective and efficient. For your trip, you can book a pickup and drop off in advance from the Ngurah Rai (Bali) International Airport via this link.

That location is one of its biggest strengths. You can stay in full resort mode if you want to, but you can also step outside and be near cafés, shops, beach walks, and casual restaurants within minutes. For us, that is one of the best kinds of Bali luxury — not just beautiful surroundings, but convenience which makes the whole trip feel smoother.

Rooms and Overall Stay Experience

The rooms are designed with a modern Balinese style, and that balance works so well here. They feel warm and calming rather than overly trendy, and every room has a private balcony looking over the gardens, with some categories offering partial ocean views. Hyatt also describes the design as having Balinese and Japanese elements, which makes sense once you see how understated and peaceful the rooms feel.

What we like most about the rooms is that they feel genuinely easy to live in. This is not the kind of hotel where the room looks good in photos but feels cold in real life. It is comfortable, quiet, and well suited to the type of trip Sanur is best for. After a beach walk, a spa session, or dinner out, it feels like the kind of room you actually want to come back to and slow down in.

Pools, Beach and Facilities

This is where Hyatt Regency Bali really starts to shine. The resort has three pools, direct beach access, and a layout that feels lush and spread out, so it never feels like everyone is packed into one area. The gardens are a huge part of the atmosphere here. They soften everything and give the resort that classic tropical Bali feeling that a lot of newer hotels cannot quite recreate.

The beachside setting works especially well because Sanur itself is known for gentler water and a more relaxed coastline. The sea here is generally calmer than Bali’s west coast, and the beachfront promenade runs for roughly 5 kilometres, making it perfect for sunrise walks, cycling, or just wandering slowly with a coffee. That slower, more graceful rhythm is part of what makes Sanur so lovable, especially if you have already done the busier side of Bali before.

If wellness matters to you, the hotel also has a very strong spa setup. Shankha Spa offers 10 private spa villas, a 24-hour fitness centre, a spa pool, sauna, steam room, and hot and cold plunge pools, so it is not just a token hotel spa — it is a proper wellness space.

Staff and Hospitality

One thing that really shapes a stay like this is the hospitality. Luxury in Bali is never just about the room or the pool — it is also about how a place makes you feel. Many recent guest reviews mention warm, attentive, and accommodating staff, especially around the pool, restaurants, and general service areas. That matches what you want from a Sanur resort like this: not stiff service, but kind, calm, intuitive hospitality that helps the whole stay feel easy.

For us, that matters more than over-the-top formality. The best Bali hotels are the ones where the staff make the resort feel gentle and welcoming, and Hyatt Regency Bali seems to do that well for many guests.

Food at the Hotel

Dining at Hyatt Regency Bali follows the same tone as the rest of the stay: polished, relaxed, and easy to enjoy over several days. The hotel’s main dining venues are Omang Omang, Pizzaria, and Piano Lounge. Pizzaria sits right on Sanur Beach and focuses on Italian dishes, wood-fired pizza, seafood, and drinks with a sea view, while Omang Omang is the hotel’s Indonesian and grill restaurant and also serves breakfast.

This is the kind of resort where breakfast feels like part of the holiday, not just a meal before you leave. And if you are someone who likes the convenience of having a few good on-site options, the hotel definitely delivers that.

What to Do Near Hyatt Regency Bali

One of the reasons we really like Sanur for a luxury stay is that you can do as much or as little as you want. If you want slow mornings and beach time, Sanur is perfect for that. But if you want to build a bigger itinerary around your stay, it works beautifully for that too. The beachfront promenade is ideal for long walks or cycling, and Sanur’s east-coast position makes it one of the best places in Bali for sunrise.

Sanur is also a very practical base for island day trips. Sanur Port is a major departure point for fast boats to Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan, and the Gili Islands, which makes Hyatt Regency Bali a really easy choice if you want a more luxurious base before or after an island hop. See my island hopping video guide here.

If you want a cultural stop nearby, Le Mayeur Museum is one of the nicest additions to a Sanur stay. It sits right on the beachfront and showcases the work and former home of Belgian painter Adrien-Jean Le Mayeur, so it adds a quieter, more artistic side to the area.

One of our favourite things to do is taking a Grab or Gojek to Taris Bar in Seminyak. Sitting here listening to live music and daily fireworks is absolutely amazing.

Spas, Shopping, Markets and Nearby Extras

If you feel like staying within the Hyatt bubble, Shankha Spa is already a strong reason not to leave. But if you want an extra spa outing nearby, The Nest Beachside Spa is another lovely Sanur option, located directly on the beachfront and focused on relaxation and wellness in a more independent day-spa setting. This is one of my favourite spas in Bali and its always almost booked out. See the clip where I talk about my spa experience.

For shopping, Icon Bali Mall is the most obvious nearby stop. It is a beachfront retail and entertainment village on Jalan Danau Tamblingan, and the mall says it is open daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. It is a good option if you want air-conditioned shopping, beauty, coffee, or a more modern break from the beach.

If you want something more casual and local, Sindhu Night Market is worth including in a Sanur stay. It opens in the early evening and is known more for street food than polished shopping, so it is better for an affordable, local dinner stop than for curated boutique browsing.

Where to Eat Near Hyatt Regency Bali

One of the best things about staying here is that you are not relying on the hotel alone. Sanur is easy for food, and that makes the whole stay feel more flexible.

If you like Italian food, I would recommend Pizzaria for the beach view and easy resort mood, but Massimo is the classic off-site Sanur option. It has been serving Southern Italian food for more than two decades, is known for homemade pasta and gelato, and stays open from breakfast through dinner. It is one of those Sanur staples that people keep returning to for a reason.

For Indian food, Gateway of India Sanur is the obvious nearby comfort-food option. It is well known in the area for Indian dishes and is a good inclusion if you want something familiar one evening, especially after several days of resort or Indonesian food.

For gluten-free or more health-focused meals, Sanur is actually better than many people expect. Genius Cafe openly says it caters to vegetarian, plant-based, and gluten-free diners, though it also notes that it cannot cater safely for celiac guests. Sala Bistro is another reliable Sanur pick with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, and Jhoii Local Eats is a more wellness-driven, plant-based spot in South Sanur that focuses on health-conscious food and sustainability.

For Balinese and Indonesian food, I would split it into two moods. If you want something a little more polished, Omang Omang at the hotel gives you Indonesian dishes in a more refined resort setting. If you want something more casual and local, Warung Little Bird is a long-running Sanur favourite for Indonesian food and good value, while Sindhu Night Market is great when you want something informal, affordable, and more local in feel.

Price and Value

Hyatt Regency Bali sits in that sweet spot where it feels properly luxurious, but not in a way that feels intimidating or overdone. For us, the value is not just in the room itself. It is in the whole experience: beachfront location, beautiful gardens, strong resort facilities, a peaceful part of Bali, and enough good food, spa, and shopping nearby that you never feel trapped inside one property.

When we book a hotel like this, we usually compare both Klook.com and the official hotel website before locking anything in. Sometimes Klook.com has the better convenience or flexible rate, and sometimes the direct hotel site includes the better overall package. We always check both.

Final Verdict

After so many Bali trips, we have become very picky about where we want to stay again and Hyatt Regency Bali is exactly the kind of place. It is not trying to be the loudest, trendiest, or most overdesigned resort in Bali. Instead, it delivers something much more lasting: calm, comfort, greenery, beach access, and a version of Bali that still feels graceful.

If you are looking for a luxury stay in Sanur that feels feminine, peaceful, polished, and genuinely easy to enjoy, this is one of the best choices in the area. It works especially well for couples, families, a girls trip, and anyone who wants Bali to feel softer and slower. Honestly, after eight Bali trips, that kind of luxury means more to us than hype ever could.

If you want to book Hyatt Regency Bali, make sure to book early for peak periods and compare both Klook.com and the official Hyatt website before making a final decision. That is usually the smartest way to check the best mix of rate, room type, perks, and cancellation flexibility.
