Eat and Drink

Best Places to Visit in Bali include iconic spots like Tanah Lot, Uluwatu Temple and Monkey Forest. These top 3 must-visit attractions offer stunning views, cultural experiences and unforgettable moments for every Bali traveller.

Tanah Lot

Set on a dramatic rock formation off Bali’s southwest coast, Tanah Lot Temple is one of the island’s most iconic sights. Meaning “Land in the Sea,” the temple appears to float during high tide and becomes accessible on foot at low tide. Dating back to the 16th century and linked to Dang Hyang Nirartha, it forms part of Bali’s sacred sea temple network. While visitors can’t enter the shrine, the coastal views, lively markets, and especially the golden sunset make it a must-visit experience in Bali.

Uluwatu Temple

Perched on a dramatic cliff 70 metres above the ocean, Uluwatu Temple is one of Bali’s most stunning cultural landmarks. Dating back to the 11th century, it is dedicated to protecting the island from sea spirits and holds deep spiritual significance. Visitors are drawn to its breathtaking views, especially at sunset when the temple is silhouetted against the glowing horizon. The traditional Kecak fire dance performed at dusk adds to the experience. Be mindful of the resident monkeys, known for their mischievous nature. Uluwatu offers the perfect blend of culture, scenery, and unforgettable coastal beauty.

Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary

Located in the heart of Ubud, Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is a lush jungle reserve and cultural site home to hundreds of long-tailed macaques. Spanning dense forest, ancient temples, and moss-covered pathways, the sanctuary offers a unique blend of nature and spirituality. Visitors can explore sacred sites like the 14th-century temple complex while observing the monkeys in their natural habitat. While they are fascinating to watch, the monkeys are known for their playful and sometimes cheeky behaviour. It’s a must-visit spot for those looking to experience Bali’s wildlife, culture, and serene natural beauty in one place.
