Planning your first trip to Bali can feel overwhelming — there’s so much to see, from beaches and temples to cafes and jungle retreats.

This 5-day Bali itinerary for first-time visitors is designed to make it simple. It covers the best areas — Seminyak, Canggu, Uluwatu and Ubud — giving you a complete Bali experience without rushing.

You’ll explore beaches, enjoy sunset spots, experience local culture and finish your trip with relaxation in Ubud. Make sure you also check our Complete Bali guide for your trip.

How This Itinerary Works (For First-Time Visitors)

This itinerary is structured to minimise travel time, avoid unnecessary backtracking and balance sightseeing and relaxation. This flow is ideal if it’s your first time in Bali.

Route: Seminyak Canggu Uluwatu Ubud

Day 1: Arrival in Bali + Easy Start in Seminyak

After arriving at Ngurah Rai International Airport, make your way to Seminyak, which is around 30 to 45 minutes away depending on traffic. It’s one of the best areas to start your Bali trip because it’s central, lively, and easy to get around, making it ideal for first time visitors.

Once you check into your hotel or villa, take the rest of the day slowly and avoid over planning. After a long travel day, Seminyak is best enjoyed at an easy pace. In the evening, head to the beach for your first Bali sunset, or settle in at KU DE TA or Potato Head Beach Club where you can relax with food and drinks as the sky changes colour.

For dinner, stroll along Jalan Kayu Aya (Eat Street), where you’ll find everything from casual spots to more upscale restaurants, perfect for easing into your first night in Bali.

Day 2: Canggu Cafes, Surf & Beach Clubs

Start your morning with a short drive from Seminyak to Canggu, which takes around 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic.

Begin the day with breakfast at Crate Café or Milk & Madu, both popular spots in Canggu and perfect for first time visitors with great food and a relaxed atmosphere. After breakfast, head to Batu Bolong Beach where you can try beginner surfing, take a walk along the shore, or simply relax at one of the beachside cafés.

In the afternoon, spend a few hours at Finns Beach Club, one of Bali’s most famous beach clubs, known for its pools, ocean views and lively atmosphere. End the day at The Lawn Canggu for sunset drinks, followed by dinner at one of the nearby restaurants to finish your day in a relaxed and social setting.

Day 3: Uluwatu Beaches + Cliffside Sunset

Start early and make your way to Uluwatu, which takes around 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic. Begin your day at either Padang Padang Beach or Bingin Beach, both known for their dramatic cliffside access, clear waters, and some of the most beautiful beach scenery in Bali.

In the afternoon, head to Savaya Bali or Single Fin Bali to relax with sweeping cliffside views over the ocean, a perfect spot to slow down and take in the surroundings. As evening approaches, make your way to Uluwatu Temple for sunset, one of the most iconic viewpoints in Bali. Stay for the Kecak fire dance performance, a powerful cultural experience that brings the setting to life and is a must see in any Bali itinerary.

Day 4: Travel to Ubud + Spa & Relaxation

Leave early for Ubud, which takes around 2 to 2.5 hours depending on traffic, and enjoy the scenery as it shifts from coastal Bali into lush jungle, rice terraces, and quieter inland villages. Once you arrive, check into your resort and take things slow, Ubud is all about nature, wellness, and slowing down the pace of your trip.

In the afternoon, book a spa treatment at Karsa Spa or another wellness centre and unwind surrounded by jungle views and calming surroundings. In the evening, enjoy a relaxed dinner at Zest Ubud or Clear Cafe, both known for their peaceful atmosphere and healthy, nourishing food, the perfect way to settle into Ubud’s slower rhythm.

Day 5: Ubud Exploration + Departure

Start your final day early to avoid the crowds and make the most of your time in Ubud. Begin with a visit to the Tegallalang Rice Terraces, one of the most iconic landscapes in Bali, known for its lush green views and layered rice fields. From there, head to the Campuhan Ridge Walk for a peaceful walk surrounded by jungle scenery and rolling hills.

If time allows before heading to the airport, visit the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, a unique nature reserve and cultural site where you can walk among ancient temples and free roaming monkeys. It’s the perfect way to end your Bali itinerary with a mix of nature, culture, and calm before departure.
